Poetry Editor

Volunteer (appx 15 hrs/quarter) 

Job Description

 

 

We are currently looking for someone who is passionate about literary arts as a modality to increase wellbeing and healing, who has publishing experience but as a writer and/or editor to join our team as the Assistant Poetry Editor.

 

This is a volunteer, remote position which requires approximately 20 hours per quarter.

Responsibilities

Works with the Managing Editor & Assistant Poetry Editor to

 

  • Closely read, review, edit and select entries for each issue 

  • Accurately input selected poems into journal platform

  • Support and help promote the journal though your own networks and social media

​

Requirements

​

  • Experience working with a diverse team and audience

  • Published writer

  • Successful in copywriting and editing

  • Working knowledge of online platforms like LucidPress and Submittable

  • Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and people skills

  • Reliability and efficiency

  • Attention to detail

  • Keep information confidential and not use for personal/professional advancement

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with little oversight

  • Passion for poetry, creativity, and the connection with art and healing

  • Commit to at least a one year cycle (Jan-Dec 2022)

 

Ideal as well but not required

  • MFA in poetry or creative writing or relevant experience 

  • Participate in meetings including annual retreat (virtual option)

  7. Community -- You will be helping hundreds of writers, poets and artists get their work out to the world, and be a part of our events centered on art and healing, as well as work with other dynamic women and femme editors at Snapdragon Journal.
